Politics gets first billing, cinema second: Shatrughan
Flamboyant Bollywood star and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shatrughan Sinha is clear that politics takes precedence over cinema though he would continue to act in films whenever he gets the time - and a good role.
“I love politics as much as I love films,” Sinha, who is here to attend the BJP national executive meeting, said.
Sporting a ’tilak’ in the form of Vande Mataram written on his forehead, Shotgun Sinha, as he was popularly known, told IANS in an interview: “My priorities have changed. I want to focus more keenly on politics now.
“However, that does not mean I am bored of films. I will continue to do films also. But my top priority is to strengthen the party and I am focusing on that for the time being.”
Sinha, who was known for his stylish dialogue delivery in several Bollywood potboilers, said he was overwhelmed by the love and affection he was getting from people in Dehradun and party workers.
The actor, incidentally, has become one of the most popular guests at the Hotel Madhuban where he is staying — not merely because of his “star status” but also because of the long, leisurely conversations he enjoys with the hotel staff.
“He has a big heart. He never makes us feel that he is a Bollywood star. He loves to laugh and make us laugh,” a staffer said.
