Kids not impressed by smoking ‘Don’ Shahrukh
Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan should listen to slogans that were raised by students in Agra against smoking and using tobacco on Wednesday.
Not impressed by Khan’s smoking scenes in his forthcoming big release ‘Don’, some kids in Agra urged King Khan to desist from enacting such scenes.
Promos of Farhan Akhtar directed venture Don, the remake of the 70’s classic, showing King Khan oozing out smoke from his mouth has already led to the movie getting adult certificate by the Censor Board.
Khan meanwhile has promised to get rid of smoking habits. But this has not impressed the young minds here, who have been protesting against the menace of smoking.
Taking out an anti-tobacco rally in the town the children urged people to shun the “bad habits that are causing cancer”.
The rally was organised in association with an NGO, Prayatna - ek koshish, to urge people not to consume tobacco in any form.
Students like Suman, Puneet, Vaibhav, who all happen to be ardent Khan admirers however said that King Khan should not enact smoking scenes.
“We make people aware of dangers of smoking in the day, and when we return home in the evening we see our hero smoking on TV. This is quite embarrassing,” said Puneet.
Holding banners and posters that projected the causes behind cancer, the students urged the public to save themselves from this evil.
“This will help in creating awareness among the people regarding the dangers of tobacco use and cancer and provoke them in leaving it,” said Suman.
High profile leaders and some well-known individuals took part in the rally. Ramjilal Suman, Member of Parliament from Kirojabad, appreciated the effort made by the students.
Agra’s Chief Medical Officer CN Mawar said, “Many people might not know the actual causes of cancer, and maybe this rally will help them get the right information.”
Most of the students said they were happy to be a part of this cancer awareness mission.
