French filmmaker Benoit Jacquot said on Tuesday he knew about the difficulties of shooting in India when he wrote his movie, “L”intouchable,” or “The Untouchable.” The film, which was making its premiere at the Venice Film Festival, tells the story of an actress who finds out that her father is an “untouchable,” who belongs to no caste and is thus subject to discrimination. She drops everything to go to India and look for him. “Everything that happens in India. I wrote a year before (shooting) on the site, knowing the difficulties, the impossible things, the hard ones and the easy ones,” Jacquot told a news conference. `I wanted to take the characters that I create to the farthest country possible,” he said. The movie was competing for the coveted Golden Lion.
