The shooting of bollywood film ‘cash’ starring Ajay Devgan, Esha Deol and Zayed khan has been launched in Cape Town with the South African tourism expecting to get a boost from the movie.

The main leads of the movie along with producer, Sohail Maklai and actors Shamita Shetty and Riteish Deshmukh attended the launch which was hosted by the Cape Town Routes Unlimited and the Cape Film Commission yesterday.

Addressing the gathering, Maklai said that he had brought his crew of 65 people to shoot the movie in Cape Town after he had seen the beauty of the city two years ago when on holiday in South Africa.

“I knew I would return one day”, he said.

“The shooting of the movie here would give the city and the country tremendous promotion as for Cape Town to feature, almost like a character itself, in a Bollywood production is wonderful for South Africa and its film and tourism industries,” South African Tourism’s Country Manager, India, Lance Littlefield said.

He said that movies like ‘Kaho Na Pyar Hai’, which was shot in New zealand, led to Indian outbound tours and Indians from across the world streamed to destination New zealand, increasing the travel visit by 500 per cent.

“Indian tourists are highly influenced by the Indian film and entertainment. With the strong Indian audience growing across the world and the increasing number of Indian channels and theatres, Indian travel spend is expected to have a quantum leap in 2006,” he added.
