Bengali Movie Dosar for Hamburg Film Festival
Rituparno Ghosh’s Bengali film “Dosar” is all set to be screened at the prestigious Hamburg International Film Festival 2006 in Germany next month.
Produced by Planman Motion Pictures, the black and white film tells a beautiful tale of relationships. Konkona Sen Sharma and Bengali actor Prosenjit play the protagonists.
“Dosar” is one of the few Indian films to have made it to the Hamburg fest in recent years.
“I am very excited. It feels great when people across the world appreciate your work. I had already got my reward when critics and audiences applauded ‘Dosar’. This selection is the icing on the cake,” said the visibly excited director.
The film was released in April in India and received rave reviews.
The Hamburg fest boasts of showcasing the best of world cinema consistently over the past five decades. And the team behind “Dosar” is more than thrilled.
“It is amazing that ‘Dosar’ is placed in the same league as some of the greatest films in international cinema like ‘In the Mood For Love’, ‘Baran’, ‘City of God’ and ‘Bend It Like Beckham’.
“We will continue creating great cinema that will be appreciated by audiences the world over,” said Shubho Shekhar Bhattacharjee, CEO of Planman Motion Pictures.
Ghosh is currently busy with his next bilingual “Sunglass” - a comic fantasy that stars Konkona, R. Madhavan, Jaya Bachchan and Naseeruddin Shah.
“Rituda is a legend in his own right and it is always a pleasure working with a genius. With ‘Sunglass’, we are going to surprise the audiences with a genre that is relatively new for us. Fantasy is something that Rituda has never dealt with before. Wait and watch! We will take Indian cinema to the world!” exclaimed Bhattacharjee.
