Wanted: The perfect ‘loo’
Ashtavinayak Films, one of Bollywood’s leading distributors, has reportedly picked up the Mumbai rights to a film starring Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar for a record Rs 7.4 crore. Apparently, the distributor has, snatched Sajid Nadiadwala’s Jaan-e-Mann for the record sum, which includes print and publicity costs. The sale has stunned Bollywood, as it is over twice the amount paid for the Aamir Khan hit Rang De Basanti, which went for Rs 3.5 crore.
The industry is both shaken and stirred by the news. Smaller filmmakers are scared that this is the start of a new trend of higher prices all round.
