Organisers of India Day parade apologise to Amisha, Air India
The organisers of the India Day parade in New York have apologised to actress Amisha Patel and national carrier Air India for the “misunderstanding” that led to a complaint being filed against the star for allegedly misbehaving with an airline employee.
In a statement, the Federation of Indian Associations, organisers of the annual parade, said it had booked two first class seats for Patel and her companion for the Mumbai-Newark flight but the booking was automatically transferred from one flight to another, creating confusion.
“It has been wrongly reported that Amisha Patel and her companion were not booked in first class. FIA has booked her and her companion on first class travel. However, FIA had also waitlisted her on another flight to JFK and apparently the booking got automatically transferred from one flight to another, creating a misunderstanding and confusion.
“We sincerely regret this confusion and wish to tender our apologies to Amisha Patel and Air India in this matter,” a statement from FIA said.
An Air India employee had filed a police complaint, alleging Patel had misbehaved with her after her companion was not upgraded to first class on the Mumbai-Newark flight on August 18. Patel was on her way to attend the India Day parade. — PTI
