Born on the 16th of July, 1983 in the city of Hong Kong, her actual name is Katrina Turquotte. Ever since she started her acting career in Bollywood, she has been receiving mixed reviews from film critics. Nonetheless, Katrina has successfully established herself as one of the highest paid actresses of the Indian film industry.
Katrina started off by being a professional model. She was a teen when she received her first modeling assignment. Gradually she went on to become a fashion model. Katrina Kaif was born in Hong Kong to Mohammed Kaif and his wife Suzanne Turquotte. Her father has a Kashmiri descent and is a British businessman. Her mother, on the other hand, happens to be a charity worker and also an English Lawyer. Apart from Katrina, the couple has seven other children, out of which six are girls and a son. Three of the girls, Christine, Natasha, and Stephanie, are elder to Katrina along with Michael, who is also her elder brother. Her younger sisters are Sonia, Isabel, and Melissa. When Katrina was still a child, her parents opted for a divorce after which her father shifted to the United States. All the children were raised by their mother and their father had no influence on them at all.
Suzanna had decided to dedicate most of her time to various social causes. This often led the entire family to relocate to different countries. They have shifted base from Hong Kong to China, Japan, France, Switzerland, Poland, and many more places. They finally settled down in London. Katrina was barely fourteen years old when she won her first beauty contest in Hawaii. She also received her first ever modeling assignment the same year. The assignment was for a jewelry campaign. Later, she started working as a professional model for various freelance agencies. Katrina also started appearing regularly on London Fashion Week. It was during one of such shows that she caught the attention of Kaizad Gustad, one of the popular filmmakers of India. It was a thriller that centered around 2 stepbrothers who turn rivals in a quest to get their father’s insurance money. She played the role of Saif Ali Khan’s secretary, who was also the lover of his stepbrother, Akshay Khanna. Later she joined hands with Akshay Kumar again for Singh is Kinng that was made by Anees Bazmee. This movie went on to earn US$ 17 million worldwide. It was also her sixth consecutive box office hits in her entire career. However, her final movie of the year, Yuvvraaj made by Subhash Ghai, was a major failure.

After having worked in several movies alongside various popular names in Bollywood, Katrina finally got to work in the movie New York (2009), which was made by Kabir Khan and the story centered on a terrorism drama. The movie also featured John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh. The story was about 3 friends whose lives suddenly change once John is wrongly detained after the 9/11 incident. She played the role of Maya, who was a college student and later marries a terrorist. After completing the movie, Katrina had said that she was tired of doing “arm candy” roles and wished to work in more substantial movies. New York fared well at the box office and Katrina also received positive reviews.
That same year Katrina worked alongside Ranbir Kapoor in the comedy movie Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, made by Rajkumar Santoshi. She had also walked the ramp in the years 2009 and 2010 as part of the “Being Human” Show that is an initiative by Salman Khan. This was again for the purpose of charity.
