Reliance Communications gets Deutsche Telekom AG’s bandwidth contract

Anil Ambani’s Reliance Communications has bagged an important Deutsche Telekom AG’s bandwidth contract.

They overcame the competing bids from Global Crossing (owned by SingTel), Apollo (Cable & Wireless) and Indian firm VSNL.

Reliance won this bid through their wholly owned subsidiary, Flag Telecom. The worth of the contract is not known yet but it could run into millions of dollars.

The company has yet not commented on this new development. Deutsche Telekom had ordered this huge bandwidth for its broadband businesses in US and Europe.

Flag Telecom is also closing on signing similar deals in the global arena. One of them can be with the Oman government-owned OmanTel, which is also planning to buy huge bandwidth.
