If you think rehab's only for people who have a drug, booze or sex addiction, think again because chances are you may need one if you're a gamer and if you feel the need to kick the habit, you could check yourself into Europe's first Detox clinic for game addicts who can't seem to live outside the virtual world.

According to Keith Bakker, director of Amsterdam-based Smith & Jones Addiction Consultants "Video games may look innocent, but they can be as addictive as gambling or drugs - and just as hard to kick."

Since January, Bakker has already helped twenty gamers aged 13 to 30 kick the habit. He feels gamers exhibit the same symptoms as alcoholics or drug addicts and tend to distance themselves from people as a result of which their social skills are pretty impaired.

Most gamers are introduced into gaming by their very own parents (for shame) who feel games are pretty harmless and it's these kids who end up doing drugs to play longer or "to really" experience the game.

Bakker feels symptoms of video-game addiction are easy to spot and parents should take notice if their kids spend an insane amount of time playing with their "joystick(s)".

I think it's time these so called addicts check into a ... I don't know "Get-a-life-clinic"?
