Two very unconventional movies released this year- Rang De Basanti (RDB) & Lage Raho Munnabhai (LRMB). Both of them are quite different movies- the theme, the plot, everything is different. Yet, there are some common things like — both of them talk about philosophies of freedom fighters, in both these movies, the protagonists use radio as the medium to reach out to the masses & now both are highly successful. The success of these films underscores the point that Indian youth still appreciates well presented Nationalist & Gandhian themes. It's just that our film makers weren't able to present them in a manner that was acceptable to the masses, unless these films came along.

Both RDB & LRMB, are poles apart each other in their treatment but the message they convey is same. In both the movies, the protagonists convert. While in RDB, a carefree bunch of youngsters convert to pick up the gun, in LRMB, Munnabhai & Circuit turn into preachers of non-violence. What is also endearing is that both the movies convey their messages without boring its audiences. Both these movies have been treated so well that after watching these movies, one feels as if the world has suddenly become more beautiful.
