The device sports a distinctive, all-black, stainless steel casing; red click wheel; colored video screen; plus autographs of lead singer Bono, as also Larry Mullen, Adam Clayton, and the Edge, engraved on the back.
Apple's latest iPod offers 20 hours of continuous music-play, a larger screen (2.5-inch, 320 x 240 pixels TFT) fully customizable menus, and options in the settings menu such as capacity-checking, plus language and sounds selection.
Announcing the release, Greg Joswiak, vice president - worldwide iPod product marketing, Apple Computer, said that they are thrilled to continue working with one of the greatest bands in the world, to bring to U2 fans, a special edition of the world s best digital music player.
The U2 iPod features Apple's patent-pending Auto-Sync technology that automatically downloads digital music, podcasts, photos, audio-books, home movies, music videos, and popular television shows onto the iPod, keeping the downloaded content up-to-date whenever the iPod is plugged into a Mac or Windows computer using USB 2.0.
Additionally, U2 comes bundled with earbud headphones, USB 2.0 cable, a case, and a dock insert, along with a coupon to download 30 minutes of exclusive U2 video footage from Apple s iTunes Music Store.
The iPod U2 Special Edition is available immediately for a suggested retail price of $329 through the Apple Store and the company s retail partners.
