T-Series
Aadesh Shrivastava and lyricist Sameer have come together to create lilting music in Baabul, produced by T-Series. It is a stand out performance by Aadesh, a music director, who, for some strange reasons, has not earned recognition for melodious and original compositions.
The album begins with a peppy bhangra number, Come On, Come On, sung by Amitabh Bachchan, Sonu Nigam, Vishal and Aadesh; a party song that is a big bonus for Amitabh fans.
The next number, Keh Raha Hai, featuring Sonu and Shreya Ghoshal is an ordinary piece. But the album warms up with Har Manzar by Kunal Ganjawala in an eight-minute offering. The music by now grows on you and Jagjit Singh makes a regal entry with his soulful rendition of Kehta Hai Baabul.
Jagjit's voice raises the quality of the album and is matched by Ganjawala's superb Bebasi Dard Ka Aalam. Lyrics are the strong point of this number and melody most captivating.
Sonu makes his presence felt with an impeccably sung Baawri Piya Ki. It is a reminder of the range that Sonu commands.
Gaa Re Mann is the weak point of this album even as the qawwali-like number brings together Kavita Krishnamurthy, Alka Yagnik, Kailesh Kher and Sudesh Bhosle. Baabul Bidai is a soft number by Richa Sharma before the album quite needlessly drifts with the remix versions of Har Manzar and Come On, Come On.
Sonu signs off with a disappointing Vaada Raha, a most forgettable number in this otherwise wonderful album that should capture the imagination of music lovers craving for quality.
Buy this music for Jagjit and Ganjawala. They have an unforgettable number each.
