Apart from being one of the most successful and popular filmmakers of India, Atanu Ghosh has also made several documentaries. Starting from his debut movie, most of the movies made by Atanu Ghosh have been shown in some of the most prominent film festivals across the entire world. He has also won several prestigious international and national awards till date for his movies. Most of the movies made by him will depict an urge to explore the unique complexities of human behavior that is normally pitted against the backdrop of a fast changing society. Early Life

Atanu Ghosh was born on the 12th of August, 1969. He completed his post-graduation from the University of Calcutta in the field of journalism. Later, he started off as a scriptwriter in the year 1996 and then became a director of documentary movies. With time, he decided to move off to directing telefilms and fictional serials.

Career

Atanu started off by writing a play for the National School of Drama in New Delhi. He named the play as Rub ba Ruh and it was directed by Kaushik Sen. Atanu has directed 23 different telefilms till date. He has also worked as an editor and a scriptwriter for many popular directors in the country. Apart from telefilms, Atanu has also directed more than 30 different documentaries and corporate movies for several reputed organizations.

He debuted as a director in the field of feature films with Angshumaner Chhobi that released in the year 2009. The movie went on to get chosen in the Indian Panorama of the International Film Festival in India for the year 2009 along with in the Competitive Section. The movie was also awarded the highly prestigious Aravindan Puraskaram in the year 2009 in the Best Debut Film category. This is not the end. Angshumaner Chhobi won several other international and national awards in the days to come.

Atanu’s next project was Takhan Teish. The movie released in the year 2011 and was screened at film festivals in different countries such as Osaka and Shanghai, to name a few. Rupkatha Noy was his next movie that got nominated for the FIPRESCI Award in the Best Indian Film 2013 category. This movie was also selected in quite a few film festivals that also includes the Shanghai International Film Festival.

Apart from the feature films listed above, Atanu also directed many other feature films such as Bini Sutoy, Mayurakshi, Ek Phaali Rodh, and Abby Sen. Some of the telefilms that Atanu Ghosh has directed include Disha, Weekend, 700 Square Feet, Kanta, Sumitra Online, Amriter Putra, Deadline, Aaro Ek Prithibi, Ankush, Asomapto, Mishraraag, Parampara, Adhara Madhuri, and Parokiya 2000. Atanu has also directed several documentaries and serials during his career such as Ebong Computer, Banglar Swadeshi Gaan, Goenda Poribar, Icchedena, and Abaak Prithibi to name a few. Atanu Ghosh is one of those few directors in India who have become a great success in a short span of time.
