London, May 9: Russell Brand recently accepted substantial libel damages by the Sun, claiming that he had cheated on his girlfriend Jemima Khan.
The Brit comedian's solicitor John Kelly told Justice Tugendhat that the newspaper's claims didn't have any foundation and were distressing, hurtful and damaging.
He also said that the claimant's distress was increased as a result of the defendant's initial refusal to remove the article from the newspaper's website, or to withdraw the allegations and publish an apology, the BBC reported.
Kelly said that Brand had now accepted these claims were in fact totally untrue and defamatory and that these claims should never have been published. (ANI)
