London, April 21: Top doctor Dr Kari Poikolainen has dismissed the widely accepted notion that men should have no more than four units of alcohol a day and instead said 13 units - equivalent of six pints of strong ale - a day was ok.

Dr Poikolainen's studies, based on decades of research into the effects of booze, suggest drinkers live longer than people who don't drink, Daily Star reported.

The Helsinki University professor, who used to work for the World Health Organisation, said that evidence showed that moderate drinking is better than abstaining and heavy drinking is worse than abstaining. (ANI)
