Sydney, Apr 5: Three Australian cricketers have reportedly joined sacked England batsman Kevin Pietersen in getting a big payday at the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) player auction on Friday.
The former England batsman, who is essentially a gun for hire these days after the England Cricket Board (ECB) brought an end to his international career, has earned a base salary of 80,000 dollars for St Lucia Zouks team, along with whatever slice of the 350,000 dollar-pie team management decides to give him.
According to News.com.au, Pietersen will be joined in the Zouks by Australian veteran Brad Hodge, who made a low-key retirement announcement via Twitter following a poor showing in Bangladesh in the ICC World Twenty20.
Veteran batsman David Hussey, who was picked up by the Antigua Hawksbills team, will pocket 70,000 dollars while the other Australian to have success in the auction was Adam Voges, who was picked up by the Jamaica Tallawahs - coached by his former Australia coach Mickey Arthur, and will earn at least 50,000 dollars.
Tasmanian bowler Ben Laughlin, who was also picked up by Antigua in the draft, will pocket at least 15,000 dollars, the report added. (ANI)
