New Delhi, Feb. 05: Kate Winslet starrer Sci-fi 'Divergent', which is an adaptation of the bestselling novel of the same name by Veronica Roth, will release in India on April 11, 2014.

According to Universal Pictures International India, set in a dystopian future and based on the first of a trilogy of novels of the same name by Roth, the film also stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Zoe Kravitz.

The film, which is directed by Neil Burger, is based in futuristic Chicago in which people are tested when they are young and subsequently divided into five factions based on their personalities and virtues.

Each represents a different virtue, and teenagers have to decide if they want to stay in their faction or switch to another - for the rest of their lives.

Beatrice "Tris" Prior, played by Woodley, discovers that she is Divergent, meaning she does not fit into any one faction, and soon uncovers a sinister plot brewing in her seemingly perfect society.

The film will release across cities in India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. (ANI)
