Washington, Oct 8: Legendary rock musician, Lou Reed, famous for solo hits such as 'Walk on the Wild Side,' died on Sunday. He was 71.
According to Reed's publicist, he died of an illness related to a May liver transplant, CNN reported.
Reed found success with band Velvet Underground in the 1960, followed by a solo career that began in 1970 after he left the band.
The songwriter and guitarist, who was known for his infusion of avant garde music into rock; his use of distortion and noise; and his spare guitar work and voice, influenced generations of rockers.
Reed married the performance artist Laurie Anderson in 2008. (ANI)
