New York, July 10: Singer John Mayer has gifted a guitar to one of his fans, whom he met at a music shop here.
Salesperson Brad Tretola said Mayer and singer Katy Perry stepped into Rudy's Music Shop, where three girls were browsing around for acoustic guitars. They screamed with excitement on seeing their music idols, reports eonline.com.
Tretola told Mayer about them. After that, he casually joined in on the girl's conversation.
"Katy and John treated them so kindly, they were such sweethearts! Katy told one of the girls, 'I love your earrings'," Tretola said.
The fans then took a few photographs with the singers. After that, Mayer asked if any of the girls played guitar. Julie Fermin, one of the fans present in the shop, said she did.
The aspiring musician then showed Mayer the acoustic guitar she was interested in and said she had to wait on her dad to see if they could afford it.
Mayer then looked at the guitar, glanced at the price tag and continued to chat a bit more before leaving. After the singers left the shop, Fermin was told that Mayer had purchased the guitar on his way out of the store.
Gordon French, the shop's manager, said that Mayer paid for it as he was exiting the shop and politely asked him not to tell the girls, until after he and Katy left.
