New Delhi, Mar h 13: Steven Spielberg was seen striking up a conversation with Amitabh Bachchan at a recent event held in Mumbai, and answered questions regarding his early life and film career.

The legendary US filmmaker who came to India along with his wife Kate Capshaw, following the success of his Oscar nominated film 'Lincoln,' termed his early tours to India as one of the best moments of his life.

"I think that people were welcoming of a foreigner, that they would invite me to eat and stay with them, they did not know who I was," Spielberg said.

"It was after I had made 'Jaws' and after certainly 'Close Encounter' came up, it was so great that nobody knew who I was," he said.

The 66-year-old director also talked about the exposure of Indian films in America and explained that "the world has shrunk to the size of a postage stamp because of the social networking."

He said "because of the breakthrough of the information highway, the oceans have narrowed and countries have come closer together, and cultures are not so different, when we can share each others' arts."

Spielberg said "when that starts to happen, it is really up to the host country to find ways of screening the art and the culture and the great ideas or the great inspirations from a country like India."

"So that is not really your responsibility, it is our neglect and our need to be more responsible to exposing Americans to more films from around the world," he added. (ANI)
