London, Mar 7: A reader returned a library book - more than 50 years after borrowing it as a schoolboy - during fees amnesty at Fine Art Library in Edinburgh so as to avoid a 2762.55-pound fine.

David Black, 60, borrowed a work on the artist Goya, by Dr Xavier de Salas, on September 22, 1962, the Mirror reported.

He said that he completely forgot to return it and even though it popped into his mind every now and then, it slipped out of his mind to actually do it.

Black asserted that when he read about the amnesty he decided that he must do it, if only to see the librarian's face.

He added that he has been a library user all his life, as they are a great resource; he felt good to have returned the book and can sleep more soundly now. (ANI)
