Melbourne, Feb 8: A company from Adelaide have produced a party board game based on the EL James' best-selling book '50 Shades of Grey.'
The games and media company Imagination first came up with the idea of producing a party board game, which was based on the erotic novel, but after two knockbacks from James it looked like it might not get off the ground.
After getting the project green-lighted on its third attempt, the company rushedits product into stores in North America, Britain, Europe and Australia nine days before Christmas, with an astounding response, News.com.au reported.
In that 9-day period, the UK retailers reported sales of more than 15,000 units and in the six weeks since it has been on shelves, US citizens have bought 50,000 editions. In Australia, it sold around 11,000 units.
Imagination chief executive Shane Yeend said that the idea came to him on a trip to Bali last year when either on the plane or by the pool "just about everyone" was reading 'Fifty Shades of Grey' and its two sequels.
The game involves players answering questions about their pals in order to earn "inner goddess" tokens.
Now, the company is also in the process of developing an app based on the popular game. (ANI)
