London, Feb 22: Women in the UK spent a whopping 3.5 billion pounds on footwears last year, according to a survey.
But despite spending vast amounts on new shoes, two thirds of the women polled confessed that their footwears never see the light of day, and languish unworn at the back of the wardrobe, the Daily Mail reported.
The survey, commissioned by the Diamond insurance company, found that an average woman owns 19 pairs of shoes, but only wears seven.
One in 20 admitted owning more than 50 pairs, and seven percent said that they buy at least 10 pairs of shoes every year.
And for some extreme shoe devotees, their love of footwear even caused rifts between them and their other halves.
While many women covet brands like Christian Louboutin and Nicholas Kirkwood, the average woman spends about 41 pounds on a pair of shoes.
Women surveyed admitted to being willing to ditch comfort for style, with over a third saying that they wear uncomfortable spike heels as they liked the way the shoes look. (ANI)
