New York, Jan 5: Posting a sonogram image of their little fetus on Facebook just isn't enough for some expecting couples, as independent services around the US will now bring the sonogram live to your friends and family - and right into your living room.
Known as "viewing parties," they're baby showers with a twist: After the games have been played and the finger foods passed out, the expectant mum reclines in front of an ultrasound machine as eager party guests crowd around the screen to get a first glimpse of the fetus. Even distant gawkers can be looped in via Skype, the New York Daily News reported.
Chad Berry of Fort Meyers, Florida, runs one such service, Miracle Imaging, with his wife, Camie, a certified sonographer.
Berry, 37, told ABC News that they get a call that someone is having a baby shower and ask them to come.
They set up and bring the massage table and the screen set up for them so everyone at the baby shower can see.
The Berrys said that they were inspired to start their sonogram service after their own miracle baby - Madisyn, now 14 - was born following five heartbreaking miscarriages.
Their company offers several packages for expectant parents, incluing a "Gender Reveal" sonogram for 179 dollars and a "Watch Your Baby Grow" package with a sonogram each trimester for 198 dollars. The full "Shower Package" in a home or reception hall runs 249 dollars. (ANI)
