Kuala Lumpur, Jan 19: Single men and women, who are going home for New Year in mainland China, have resorted to hiring girlfriends or boyfriends to avoid getting pressured for marriage.

According to Malaysian Chinese Daily Kwong Wah Yit Poh, the current trend has led to the emergence of an online business, where people offer themselves for rent with rates starting from 600 yuan a-day, the Star Online reported.

The hirer is expected to pay for other expenses like food, accommodation and transport.

For instance, the hourly rate to accompany the person for shopping is 30 yuan, dining 50 yuan, with the hirer footing the bill, and a movie date 30 yuan.

A kiss will cost 50 yuan. A hug or a goodbye kiss is free of charge, so is holding hands. (ANI)
