London, Jan ary 2: The Olsen twins, who fell foul of PETA when they unveiled a 16,900-dollar multicoloured fur backpack for their luxury label The Row in June, seem to have failed to appeal the target market with the bag that was spotted on sale at Barney's.
Now heavily-discounted by 40 percent, the bag is currently going for 10,139 dollars, the Daily Mail reported.
The fact that the price tag is slightly ripped and hand-written indicates that the bag may have been purchased as a Christmas gift and later returned to the store.
The bag, which was originally from the pre-fall collection, is a patchwork of different, unspecified furs. The straps and trim are black calf skin and slate alligator, with a silver toggle at the drawstring opening.
While it was enthusiastically feted by celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe when it was launched, animal rights campaign group PETA was furious.
Though 16,900 dollars may sound like an inconceivable figure for a handbag, the fur backpack is not even close to being the most expensive in The Row's range.
The label also offers a 39,000-dollar crocodile backpack, which is apparently a best seller. (ANI)
