London, Jan 11: A cat owned by a woman from UK, is in line to be crowned as the world's loudest feline after his purrs were measured at 100 decibels.
Merlin's purr is rated as loud as a classroom of chattering children, a London Underground train, or the sound of a car horn 25ft away, the Mirror reported.
The average cat purrs at 25dB but owner Tracy Westwood, 47, said that her cat can be can be louder than the 110 dB that he has been measured at.
Westwood is aiming to have her 12-year-old animal rescue pet officially recognised as the purring champ.
Puss Smokey, from Northampton, is the current Guinness world record holder at 92dB. (ANI)
