London, Dec 31: Crime author Peter James has revealed that the erotic novel 'Fifty Shades of Grey' does not have the same effect on men as it does on women.
The 65-year-old author, whose novel 'Not Dead Yet' ousted 'Fifty Shades of Grey' from the number one slot in the bestseller lists, asserted that he thinks E.L James book is popular with many women, but has less effect on men, as he has read it and felt nothing, the Telegraph reported.
The crime author also said that although the novel has sold over 65 million copies worldwide, it falls flat when it comes to what turns a man on.
James asserted that he doesn't think it means much to your average man, as he wasn't excited by it.
Talking about the details of the plot, he added that there were a few things about it that just weren't right and convincing, like the lead man is just Mr Perfect, with the car and all the money, while the girl didn't own a laptop.
On the other hand, James added that he is not tempted to introduce more sex scenes into his popular crime books, as he had earlier written sex scenes in some of them, but the publisher wanted to cut it down, because of too many words.
The author also revealed that he gets letters from fans asking him to include more raunchy scenes sometimes. (ANI)
