Brisbane, Nov 2: Brothels in Australia are being frequented by Police officials on a regular basis, with one establishment in Brisbane claiming to be the most visited by the men in blue.

The Woolloongabba brothel, 88 on Logan, was visited by police nine times in the past year according to the Prostitution Licensing Authority's Annual Report.

Police made a total of 58 visits to brothels with The Viper Room in Brisbane's south the next most visited brothel racking up six encounters with police, the Brisbane Times reported.

16 other brothels were visited by police bringing the total to 18, but the report did not specify the reasons for each visit instead giving a broad list.

It said police visits could be prompted by "an incident", to investigate complaints or for any other "legitimate matter."

"No adverse conclusion ought to be drawn from police entries to any licensed brothel," the report, which was tabled to Queensland Parliament yesterday, said.

The report also delved into the amount of complaints made to the PLA with 39 complaints about illegal brothels, and only seven complaints relating to the operation of licensed brothels.

Eighty-five per cent of the complaints were referred to the the Prostitution Enforcement.

Taskforce of the Queensland Police Service and the rest resulted in action being taken by the PLA.

None of these complaints were about the impact on community amenity of a brothel. (ANI)
