Chennai, Sep 14: The comedy-horror movie of 2005 which had Rajinikanth in it is going to have a sequel. We are talking of "Chandramukhi". The film was a blockbuster, and a sequel has been on the cards. We hear Ajith will play the lead role in the sequel if Rajini sir is not available to be a part of the movie.

P Vasu will be directing the sequel, he has already done a sequel of the "Chandramukhi" in Kannada language. In the part one of the film, there were stars like Jyothika, Nayanthara, Vadhivelu, Prabhu and Nassar. Jyothika was highly complimented for her performance in the film. Whether Jyothika and Vadhivelu will be seen in the sequel or not, is not confirmed. In the original film, Jyothika played the title role. It was the comeback film of Rajini ji, after the "Baba" controversy. He was seen as Dr Saravanan in the movie.

While Prabhu Ganesan played the role of Senthilnathan, the husband of Ganga (played by Jyothika). Nayantara played the role of Durga, the gardener's granddaughter and also the lover of Dr Saravanan. The film was produced by Ramkumar Ganesan and directer by P Vasu. The roles played by Jyothika were first offered to Simran who had to leave the project, due to her pregnancy. Then the role was offered to Reemma Sen and Sadha, however finally Jyothika bagged the role.
