Mumbai, Aug 30: Bollywood star couple Ajay Devgn and Kajol featured in some films prior to their marriage and many film makers tried to cast them together once again post marriage. Kajol who recently played a cameo in Karan Johar's upcoming film 'Student of the Year', refused to share screen presence with her hubby Ajay Devgn.

Kajol and Ajay both featured in the film Toonpur Ka Super Hero in 2010 but they falied to recreate the magic of yesteryear. However film makers are still keen on casting them together in their films. Recently Ashwini Dhir who is directing Ajay Devgn's 'Son of Sadar' wanted to cast Kajol in the film. However Kajol refused to star in the film, and instead suggested Sonakshi Sinha's name.

An insider says, "Ashwini had sketched the character keeping Kajol in mind, as he thought that she would best fit the role opposite Ajay. He narrated the story to Kajol and was very insistent about having her on board." Source further added, "Kajol declined the project saying she had responsibilities towards her home and children. She said she didn't want to take the film at this point of time. It was Kajol who suggested Sonakshi's name for the lead. Ashwini agreed with her and felt that Sonakshi would be a suitable replacement."

"Son of Sardar" stars Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha, Juhi Chawla and Sanjay Dutt. The movie is produced by Ajay Devgn Films and YRV Media Pvt Ltd and will be presented by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. Son of Sardaar will be releasing on the occasion of Diwali on the November 13th.
