Bangalore, Mar 26: Kangna Ranaut, Bollywood actress who shot to fame with films like ‘Gangster’, ‘Fashion’ etc is all geared up readying for her upcoming film ‘Shootout at Wadala’ which will release in December this year. It is a sequel to ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’ (2007) which went on to become a hit.

‘Shootout at Wadala’ tells the story of the encounter of gangster Manya Surve, to be played by actor John Abraham, in 1982 at Wadala, Mumbai by the Mumbai police. In fact it was the first ever encounter to have been registered by the Mumbai police.

Kangna has been roped in to essay the role of Vidya Joshi,Manya Surve’s girlfriend. To portray this tough character involved with the underworld, Kangna says she drew inspiration from the talented actresses of yesteryear, namely Rekha and the late Smita Patil.

Her look in the film has been kept simple and devoid of glamour. She says that she turned to characters played by Rekha and Smita Patil, in the 1970s and 1980s, for help in deciding the style and overall persona of this character.

Along with John, seen sharing screen space with Kangna will be Tushhar Kapoor, Sonu Sood, Mahesh Manjrekar, Manoj Bajpai and Ronit Roy. We hope this multi-starrer film from the Sanjay Gupta-Balaji joint production will live up to the prequel!
