Washington, Aug 11: Comedian Eddie Murphy, who voiced Shrek's Donkey character, is set to lend his voice again to the lead cartoon character in the 'Hong Kong Phooey' film.

The 50-year-old artist will now play a dog that becomes a crime-fighting kung-fu expert after he is granted mystical powers, Contactmusic reported.

Murphy has teamed up with Alcon Entertainment animators for their updated version of the Saturday morning animated series.

The Hanna-Barbera cartoon version of Hong Kong Phooey was a 16 episodes series that was aired in 1974. (ANI)
