Charity album raises $5 mn for Japan victims

London, May 5: Pop stars like Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Justin Bieber and Rihanna, who compiled a charity album, have raised $ 5 million for Japan's earthquake relief effort.

The pop stars were among a host of artists who offered their hits for inclusion in 'Songs for Japan', a digital-exclusive collection, with all profits going towards the Japanese Red Cross relief appeal, reports contactmusic.com.

The project, which also includes tracks by Bon Jovi, Shakira, Foo Fighters and Adele, has proven to be a huge success.

According to reports, the organisers handed over a cheque for two million dollars last month, and another three million dollars was donated Monday.
