London, Jan 28 - Anna Nicole Smith was facing huge money troubles when she died in 2007, according to revelations in newly released US government files.

Her bankruptcy ranged from millions in missing jewels to six potbellied pigs and plagued the late model at the height of her notoriety.

And the Department of Justice documents that detail her 1996 bankruptcy filing also revealed her lack of understanding of her financial woes.

"She did not know why she was in bankruptcy," the Mirror quoted an unidentified Chapter 11 examiner, as writing in a report.

Assets noted in her file include a Russian lynx coat appraised at 43,343.75 dollars and a necklace with a 500-carat sapphire, but also six potbellied pigs and a 12,000-dollar doll collection.

A safety deposit box at a New York bank held nearly one million dollars in jewellery, but also a bottle of her perfume and a copy of her calendar.

While filings list 154,142 dollars in income from modelling and royalties in 1994 and 274,514 dollars the next year, there were unpaid taxes in numerous jurisdictions and even a gas bill for 265.63 dollars.

In the bankruptcy examiner's report, the writer has frequemt;y expressed exasperation with Anna Nicole, saying that she was apparently drugged during the interview and was taking additional pills in the course of the meeting at her home.

"She could barely walk, her speech was slurred, she had to lay down in a darkened room as the light bothered her and she could not remember what she said from one moment to the next," reported the examiner.

Anna Nicole died of an accidental overdose of at least nine medications in February 2007 at a Florida hotel. (ANI)
