28th July 09, it was a historic day for Whistling Woods International (WWI) institute in Mumbai when it launched a new course for all MBA students to avail the opportunity of gaining full knowledge of media industry, from the best of faculty and professionals in its campus . An MBA course designed and developed jointly by WWI and Manipal University had introduced India’s first MBA (M and E) degree course in Media and Entertainment last year.
“It’s the biggest need of hour with fast expanding media and entertainment industry, we congratulate Subhash Ghai for taking this historic step and also, Anand Sudershan from Manipal University to create a wonderful bridge between MBA and media for the first time in India,” said Ronnie Screwvala from UTV.
The two year MBA (M and E) program has management level specialization in Film and Broadcasting. As per the course design, first year of the program is conducted at the Manipal University campus in Bangalore, which comprises of general management subjects. The final year of the program involves 'Hands On' training at Whistling Woods International Film city, Mumbai

Manmohan Shetty, Harish Daryani, Ramesh Sippy, John Mathew, Ketan Mehta, Sunil Darshan were the other distinguished guests to participate in the inaugural ceremony at Whistling Woods campus.
Welcoming the first batch of 50 students from Manipal University Mr. Subhash Ghai, Founder and Chairman, WWI said, “This is a momentous period for WWI to welcome the first batch of management students into WWI campus. We are proud to be associated with Manipal University who believed in our vision to provide a professional management course in media and entertainment. With this we have moved one step forward towards the true meaning and value of Industrialization of Indian cinema.”
Whistling Woods recently set up its school in Spain.
