Nasreen Munni Kabir’s book on Lata Mangeshkar, titled, Lata Mangeshkar in her own voice was launched on Friday May 15th evening at Mayfair banquets in Worli, Mumbai. The book chronicles the life and of legendary singer in the form of conversations with her on various topics. Lata Mangeshkar was present at the occasion which also saw a rare appearance by veteran actress Waheeda Rehman.

The evening also saw a great turnout from Bollywood’s music industry members apart from guest of honour for the evening Javed Akhtar and actress Jaya Bachchan. Amongst the music industry stalwarts present at the event were Anu Malik, Suresh Wadkar, Hariharan, Roopkumar Rathod, Anand (of music duo Anand-Milind fame) and Nitin Mukesh.

Author Nasreen Munni Kabir who earlier way back in 1991 had made a documentary on Lata Mangeshkar told us, “It wasn’t an easy task getting the book done as I had a lot of research to do. My questions had to be chosen very carefully as well as I had some tricky questions to ask her. She has very candidly spoken about her so called rivalry with her younger sister Asha Bhosale and also about why she didn’t sing under musician O.P. Nayyar.”
