One look at the famous betting websites and you will see that the odds for Slumdog Millionaire are the lowest, making it the hot favourite to win the Oscar for Best Picture.

Famous betting website Bet365 has odds for Slumdog at the lowest, at 1.44 to 1. For Benjamin Button's the odds are 5.5 to 1. The longest odds are for The Reader at 17 to 1. Similarly, Danny Boyle is the hot favourite to win Best Director. The odds on him winning the Oscar are 1.5 to 1. Next in line is David Fincher for Benjamin Button, but his odds are much longer at 4.33 to 1.

Famous British betting company Ladbrokes has offered Slumdog Millionaire the lowest odds of 4/9 while Benjamin Button has odds of 4/1 (which means they think it has only a 25 per cent chance of winning). The odds are the longest for Frost/Nixon and The Reader at 12/1.

Danny Boyle is the hot favourite here as well to win Best Director. The odds for him are just ½, while for David Fincher (Benjamin Button) they are much longer at 7/2.

On betting site Paddy Power, Slumdog Millionaire and Danny Boyle both have odds of 2/5 (0.4) to win the Best Picture and Best Director, respectively.

According to the famous US based betting website BetUS.com, the money line for Slumdog Millionaire is -250 meaning that to win 100 USD; one has to put in 250 USD. For Danny Boyle, it is -225 which means one has put in 225 USD to win 100 USD. This is because they both are the hot favourites to win in their respective categories.

However, there are no bets for A R Rahman winning the Oscar as yet as all the bets are on the acting, best film and best director categories.
