Shreyas Talpade plays a letter writer in his latest release, Welcome to Sajjanpur. As a part of the film's promotion he actually went ahead and did a never before thing! He visited the Mumbai GPO at CST and actually wrote letters for the people out there. He ended up earning Rs. 30 for the three letters that he wrote.
Shreyas told us. "My character in the film is based in a remote North Indian village but such a character is still a reality in today's times in a city like Mumbai. Imagine there is a man called Shakeel bhai who is doing this letter writing work for illiterate people for past 30 years sitting outside the GPO. It was fun enacting the character in the film but now it was greater joy to relive that character in real. Today in the times of mails and SMS people in Inda are still dependent on letters to reach out their loved ones. I will count this as one of my most memorable experiences ever."
"For each letter that I wrote I charged Rs. 10 and I wrote three such letters so had Rs. 30 in my kitty." Shreyas laughs and concludes. (SAMPURN)
