From the rare cloud forests of Latin America to the Sunderbans and from organic farming in Thailand to the effects of Bt cotton in Andhra Pradesh, 23 films capturing all these will be shown in a film festival that opens here tomorrow.

The four-day film fest titled `Quotes from the Earth', which will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, aims at screening in the capital some of the best documentaries on environmental issues.

The festival will begin with the screening of 'Green Agony', a documentary by Geeta Singh that was India's official entry for the Red Panda award this year.

The 23 documentaries that will be shown in the festival are woven under the theme 'Earth, Survival and Water', the organisers of the event Toxics Link said in a release here today.

The important films to be shown include 'Point Calimere: A Little Kingdom by the Coast' by noted conservationist filmmaker Shekhar Dattatri, 'Green Gold' by Heidi Bachram, 'The Lake of Despair' by Snehasis Das and '1,000 Days and a Dream' by C Saratchandran.

The festival will also have a panel discussion on the opening day where filmmakers, experts and environmental activists will discuss the ideas of environment documentary film making.
