Renowned choreographer Achla Sachdev just can't stop gushing over a new reality show that is billed as the "quest for the most stylish anchor" for lifestyle TV channel Zoom.

"I promise you it will be the hippest and hottest glamour reality show ever to be aired," explained Sachdev, one of the five judges of the seven-episode Levi's Diva Quest that went on the air Saturday and will continue for the next three weekends.

"The young and savvy contestants symbolise the ultimate diva who lives life by her own rules; has attitude; is spirited and spunky; an origin by virtue of personality, achievement and talents and has a magnetic personality that brings her due admiration," she pointed out.

The winner of the quest is assured of instant stardom because she will get a one-year contract with Zoom "to host the most stylish shows on the channel," the Mumbai-based Sachdev told IANS in an interview.

To this end, the quest is no mere beauty pageant as the 15 finalists will be put through interviews with eminent media personalities, a speed dating session that measures their charisma and attitude towards the opposite sex, a red-carpet experience of a typical Page 3 party where they will be observed on how well can they hold the crowd, rub shoulders with the high flyers of the society and make heads turn, Sachdev explained.

Over vigorous training sessions, the number will be further cut down to 10, from among whom the eventual winner will be selected.

Joining Sachdev in the effort will be photographer Subi Samuel, celebrity tarot-card reader and television host Sunita Menon, noted ad-film maker Prahlad Kakar and acclaimed TV host Mini Mathur. Leading ramp model Aparna Kumar, who after creating a stir on the international ramp has emerged as one of the most stylish Zoom anchors, will host the show.

"The talent these girls have is pretty amazing," Sachdev said of the month-long countrywide auditions she conducted to select the 15 finalists.

"To this end, there will be no real losers," Sachdev maintained. "Since this is a reality show, their (the finalists') talent will be on show for all to see and will open up a host of opportunities for them in movies, music videos, item numbers, modelling and even as radio and video jockeys."

Sachdev should know what she is talking about, having come a long way from being selected Navy Queen, to being an airhostess, model, society columnist, TV anchor and choreographer.

"Work is my passion," she contended. "Whatever I've done, has not been for the money but because I thoroughly enjoyed doing it."

Not surprisingly, Sachdev has her hands full for the next many weeks. To name just two of her upcoming projects, there's a "brand show" with designer Neeta Lulla for the DNA newspaper followed by a nine-city tour for lifestyle store Westside.

It's a schedule that would drive anyone dizzy.
