Majidi, who is in town to receive te Asian Cultural award at the Third Eye Asian Film Festival, said "hopefully conditions in Kashmir will stabilise soon enough for me to start shooting there in the next three to four months".
The film should be complete by next year and will most likely have children as its focal point.
Addressing a press conference here, Majidi answered a wide ranging questions, including his rise as a film maker, conditions of film making in Iran and even his children's hobbies.
Majidi is the only Iranian director to have been nominated for an Academy award for the best foreign language film for `Children of Heaven' in 1998.
Talking about the Iranian film industry, he said the Islamic revolution in 1978 was also accompanied by a cultural revolution and that is the reason why many youth were inspired to come out and express their thoughts on celluloid.
Asked why most of his films were set in the economically backward class of society, he said "that is because I belong to the same class. I find it fascinating and would like to explore their brotherhood in myself".
