Film artistes and technicians of Tollywood took to the streets today demanding that the Technicians Studio at Tollygunj in the city which was being privatised, should not be used for any other purpose and be retained as a studio. Thespian Soumitra Chatterjee, Bengali fim star Prasenjit Chatterjee and veteran actors Ranjit Mallick, Biplab Chatterjee and Tapas Pal were among the artistes who along with the technicians held demonstrations at the busy Dharmatala area demanding an assurance from the state government in this regard. Prasenjit said tender was floated to sell Technicians Studio. "We are not against privatisation and upgradation of the studio, but 2,500 film and TV serial artistes, technicians and others related to the film industry want to know whether it would remain as a studio or be used for other purpose," he said. "If it is used for any other purpose, we will not allow it," he said.
