Following reports that she had been summoned by the Madurai Magistrate Court in March and that a non-bailable warrant had been issued against her on charges of obscenity, Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty on Thursday called a press conference to clarify her stand. However, Shetty chose not to be present at the conference as the matter was subjudice, said her publicist Dale Bhagwagar.

He said Shetty wanted to clarifiy that reports regarding a summons and a non-bailable warrant were false.

''After verifying with the court, we found that the Judicial Magistrate II Seetharaman has issued a bailable warrant,'' said Bhagwagar.

Shetty had been charged with obscenity after her picture was published in Tamil eveninger Tamil Murasu, following which a case was filed based on a complaint by Dhakshinamoorthy.

'The picture is actually a freeze-frame shot from her recent Kannada film Auto Shankar and was used by the makers from the 'censored' version of the movie for its publicity.''
